They are critical to the integrity and structure of your home and before you alter, build up or remove these walls you must seek professional advice When removing a load-bearing wall, For example a structural engineer considers the loads on the wall and will design a beam and other supporting structures to safely transmit the loads to the ground if a load bearing wall is to be removed.Walls around staircases offer fire protection, so any alterations to these walls will necessitate taking other measures such as fitting smoke alarms or upstairs windows suitable for fire escape to compensate.

Replacing Windows
